WHAT IS AB 660
AB 660 is State Legislation that requires training, testing and certification for Sprinkler Fitters.
Currently, in Califonria, anyone with a C-16 License or anyone hired by someone with a C-16 License may install a Life Safety Sprinkler System. That could be a plumber, a carpenter or someone hired from in front of Home Depot.
AB 660 would require that individuals who install Life Safety Sprinkler Systems have attended or are attending an Approved Apprentice Training Program AND would require eight (8) hours of Continuing Education Classes each year.
WHY DO WE NEED AB 660
The Codes, Standards and Technology of Life Safety Fire Sprinkler Systems are changing constantly. The hazards and systems are becoming more sophisticated and challanging. California can no longer afford to have just "Anyone" installing these complicated systems.
California needs to require and ensure that the individuals installing these systems are adequately trained to do so, as many other Cities and States in America have already done.
