Sprinklers Halt SF Hotel Fire

SAN FRANCISCO -- A one-alarm fire at boutique hotel in San Francisco's Union Square Monday morning could have been a lot worse, were it not for working sprinkler system.
A fire dispatcher said the blaze was reported at 6:25 a.m. in a room at the Prescott Hotel at 545 Post St. Firefighters arrived to finish up the work of the hotel's automatic sprinkler system and quickly extinguished the blaze, which apparently began in a mattress, by 6:34 a.m. No injuries have been reported, according to the fire department, and the hotel room sustained mostly water damage
